Arrif Mohammed Ghazali - July 2, 2020
You gave me my first post National Service employment (as a beneficiary of the Youth in Afforestation Programme) when brother man couldn’t land a job. That feeling of cashing GHS 1200 flat using the e-zwich card made my colleagues and I appreciate our manhoods. From this allowance, we’re able to do at least one of these things; settle mom, support dad with purchasing groceries, reduce our debts, save and to some extent socket babe too. Honestly, Arrif is not going to ignore the number of times we the beneficiaries vented our frustrations and registered our displeasure by attacking your person through our demonstrations. Ebi sekof na wedey hong!
Irrespective of all these, you were level-headed and pacified us with your wisdom-filled words “I believe that every laborer is worthy of his HIRE” in your baritone voice. Sir if you can hear me, I must say this is one of my favorite quotes ever cos e actually caressed my soul. Without much ado, I’d like to say that my fellow beneficiaries and I can’t thank you enough for all that you’ve done for us. Indeed, we’re truly grateful and privileged to have had the chance of calling you Sir John, not as a politician but as our paymaster.
Yes you advised Ghanaians if not the world at large some years ago to “fear delegates” yet you cared for all of us (although na some of those mafia delegates dey wanna inside). This is my tribute to you Boss. In fact, I wouldn’t painstakingly write at this hour if there wasn’t any degree of inspiration about the life you led and the path you treaded. Oh yes I am apolitical and that’s why I am eulogizing you as my EMPLOYER and not a politician. We the beneficiaries wish to express our condolences to the bereaved family. Our hearts and minds are with you. Until we meet again Honorable Cocoa Asi Okurasinii Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie. PEACE🙏🏿!
